Process Breakdown for The "Birdie Tree"

Armed with some spray paint, acrylic and my little giant ladder, I took on this challenge my wife gave me in painting our son's room. The original idea was "Cat in the Hat" but she said it wasn't my idea and wasn't original. So I came up with an idea, inspired by our cat's tree bed. I freestyled the whole thing, no sketching or blueprints. I hope my son will enjoy it as much as I did painting it.

Seeing the final product isn't really what makes me wonder about the painting, I'm more curious of how the artist got to that point. I like watching the breakdown. From sketch to finish! I had this sketch for this on a piece of scrap cardboard. I must have sketched it out about a year ago. I just recently painted it for my past show.
